Prof. Nongyue He

State Key Laboratory of Bioelectronics, School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering, Southeast University, P.R. China


Nongyue He completed his PhD degree from Nanjing University, China. Initially, he joined Southeast University, Nanjing and Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing as a postdoctoral researcher. But since 2000, he emerged as a professor in State Key Laboratory of Bioelectronics, School of Biomedical Science and Medical Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing. His research interests are focused on biochips and biosensors, functional nanomaterials, controlled drug release and tissue engineering. He gained several awards like the Award for Excellent Teachers in Chinese Universities (2002), the Second Grade Award for Natural Science (2015), the Second Grade Award for Advance in Science and Technology (2014) of Chinese Ministry of Education; the Second Grade Award for Natural Science (2010, 2016), the Third Grade Award for Advance in Science and Technology (2007), and the First Grade Award for Technology Invention (2013) of Hunan Province; Chien-Shiung Wu Award (2002) of Southeast University; the First Grade Award for Advance in Science and Technology (2017) of Nanjing City, Jiang; and the First Grade Award of Endoscopic Medical Tech-Science in China (2008). He has published more than 300 scientific journal articles, 6 books, and more than 55 patents.
Speech Title: High Throughput Assay of Biomarkers Based on Magnetic Nanoparticles
Abstract: In last 15 years, we have developed a platform suited for both detection of high-throughput single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), copy numbers variation (CNVs), and aptamers-selection using magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and copy number variation analysis by ligation-dependent PCR based on magnetic nanoparticles and fluorescence /chemiluminescence. Based on these advances in high throughput bioassay approaches of biomarkers, we have also developed a high-throughput DNA detection system recently. This system includes a magnetic station for sample separation, two high precision robot arms for liquid and 96-well plate transfer respectively, an accurate temperature control module for PCR and DNA hybridization and a high accurate and sensitive optical signal detection module for fluorescence and chemiluminescence detection. This system can realize sample preparation, target molecule enrichment or amplification, signal detection and data analysis fully automatically and can be used in clinical molecule diagnosis and high-throughput fluorescence immunological detection, and so on. We predict that the future is bright for this promising system.


Prof. Tingkai Zhao

Northwestern Polytechnical University, China


Dr. Tingkai Zhao is currently working as a full professor in School of Materials Science and Engineering of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) and has accomplished his PhD degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) in 2005, China. He has visited Northwestern University (Evanston, USA) and University of Oxford (Oxford, UK) as a visiting scholar. As a director of NPU-NCP Joint International Research Center on Advanced Nanomaterials & Defects Engineering, the vice-director of Shaanxi Engineering Laboratory for Graphene New Carbon Materials & Applications. His research group mainly investigates the synthesis, structure and performance of advanced carbon materials such as carbon nanotubes (especially amorphous carbon nanotubes), graphene, flexible graphite, 2D nanomaterials, MXene and their applications in composites, energy conversion (solar cell, supercapacitor and Li-ion batteries), smart device and biosensors. He has published 2 books, 13 Chinese Invention patents and more than 100 academic articles on SCI journals, and also obtained more than 25 Awards and Honors such as the first prize of Shaanxi Science and Technology Awards in 2013 etc., and 4 times scientific reports in China Science Daily newspapers for his research achievements. And he has also been elected as a commissioner of Xi’an Nanoscience & Technology Society.

Dr. M. S. Gaur

Dr. M. S. Gaur has received his M. Sc. (Physics, 1990), M. Phil. (Physics, 1991) and Ph. D. in 1995 from Rani Durgavati University Jabalpur (M. P.). He has expertise in chemical synthesis, biosynthesis, characterization of nanomaterial. He has focused on multidisciplinary research such as polymer nanocomposites and their applications, biosensor based on nanomaterial for detection of blood TSH (i.e. blood harmones), pesticides, heavy metals etc. He has published almost 100 research papers in International reputed Journals and guided 11 Ph.D. He has received Bharat Shikshha Ratan Award in 2004 by Global Society of Health and Education, New Delhi. He is a founder of Nano and Molecular Society (India). He is a Executive President of Nano and Molecular Society (India).
Speech Title: Recent Trends of Nanomaterial-Based Tools and Strategies for Heavy-Metal Detection
Abstract: The heavy metals are not biodegradable and therefore they remain in ecological systems and in the food chain indefinitely, exposing top-level predators to very high levels of pollution. For this reason, safe limits or maximum contaminant levels have been defined for drinking water by different organizations from all over the world. Hence, the purpose of the present work is to provide a general overview on the latest trends in the development of heavy-metal-detection devices and systems. This talk deals with principles regarding designing and fabrication of biosensor, the planning of the biomolecule-transducer interface design, modification of sensing electrode by nanomaterial and biomolecule, selection of bioreceptor (antibody or enzyme or aptamers) suitable for the analyte, preparation and the characterization of the modified biosensors for detection of the heavy metals, future challenges etc. The modification of glassy carbon electrode by electrochemical method using Ag-Au alloy nanoparticles for detection of heavy metal in real water is an important feature of this talk. The perspective on aptamer-based nanobiosensors and diagnostics will also be discussed in view of technology and market with reference to present status and future prospects.
